About Me

My name is Lynessa Greene and I am a Health Service Management student at Indiana University Indianapolis. At the beginning of my college experience, I pursued Radiology and realized I wanted to do something else in Healthcare. Once I switched majors I knew I found the right major for my interests and professional goals. As a future health service management professional I want to make positive changes for healthcare employees and improve hospital operations. I want to take what I learned and help others make a difference in their community.

I’m someone who finds joy in creativity and the simple pleasures of life. Art has always been a passion of mine, whether I’m creating my own pieces or exploring museums and galleries for inspiration. Traveling is another big part of my life, as I love discovering new cultures, landscapes, and experiences. When I’m at home, I enjoy spending time with my two dogs, gardening, and unwinding with board games, movies, or a good book. Whether I’m tending to my garden, playing a friendly game with family, or attending a local festival, I believe in the power of connection and finding beauty in the everyday. Life, for me, is a series of adventures—both big and small—and I’m always seeking new ways to grow, learn, and explore the world around me.

Why Health Services Management?

I first became interested in healthcare through my grandmother, whose compassionate nature and tireless efforts helped many people navigate difficult times. She had a remarkable ability to support others through their hardships, and her selflessness left a lasting impression on me. Over time, I began to see how impactful the healthcare industry can be, not only in terms of physical health but also in providing emotional and psychological support to patients. This sparked my desire to pursue a career where I could contribute to improving people's lives, just as she did.

In addition to my grandmother’s influence, my parents, both pharmacists, played a significant role in shaping my decision to join healthcare. They often shared their experiences about the challenges within the pharmaceutical industry, particularly the need for better working conditions and patient care. Their insights made me realize the importance of improving healthcare systems and advocating for both staff and patient welfare. As someone who has always been fascinated by science and history, healthcare offers the perfect intersection of both fields, combining scientific innovation with a deep understanding of human experience. This combination fuels my passion for pursuing a career in health services management.
