Public Relations Plan

Two Media Exposure Ideas
1. Press Release
2. Local partnerships

Press releases will be a good public relations tool. Press releases will help communicate to the general community locally and widely. Specifically to students, staff, departments, and college recruiters will be getting the newsletter by email. Our public relations employee will be in charge of communicating the newsletters to everyone. We will produce newsletter every first week of the month. The press release will be about the new study lounge on the IU Indianapolis campus. A press release on the new study lounge can gain more admissions to IU Indianapolis and to Ball Hall/Riverwalk Apartment campus housing. It would give a new reason to stay on the west side of campus for students. We’ll send this to college recruiters to discuss the latest housing updates on Ball Hall and Riverwalk Apartments. Once the project gets more popular we will have our public relations employee make a statement on local Indianapolis news article.

"It would strengthen the university and alumni partnership"

Making valuable connections with IU alumni and Indianapolis locals.

Local partnerships will be the second public relations tool choice. Forming strategic partnerships with local businesses, alumni, and organizations provides mutual benefits, enhances the student experience, and fosters communication within the surrounding Indianapolis community. It can also increase the visibility and reputation of IU Indianapolis. The local partnership helps local businesses, IU alumni and donors, community leaders, local media, and current students. Partnering with local businesses can provide student discounts, internship opportunities, or campus-based services (e.g., coffee shops, bookstores, tutoring services, etc.). This strengthens ties between IU and the Indianapolis economy and offers students valuable opportunities. Engaging alumni to help with funding and the design of Jaguar Lounge can help alumni feel appreciated. Alumni contributions—whether financial or through expertise in design or construction—demonstrate the university’s commitment to honoring the alumni’s legacy and involvement. Collaborating with alumni artists to showcase their work in the new building projects, fostering a sense of pride and community while giving alumni a platform to display their work. This can include rotating art exhibits, permanent installations, or public art projects. Securing sponsorships or donations for specific campus projects, which will be publicly acknowledged, enhancing the community by using resources only provided in Indianapolis. Local partnerships would work well to build a new campus building. Local businesses will be more accepting to a college being in their town if we support the community by enriching their lives.
